“ I'd heard great things about this Portuguese spot, especially their grilled chicken, chorizo, and poutine. But since we'd already eaten poutine at the place across the street, we decided to switch it up and try the pastries this time. The plan? Definitely come back later for their famous Portuguese chicken. First on the list had to be their signature Pastel de Nata. Pro tip: reheat it in the oven or air fryer to get that perfect crispy, flaky texture back. Trust me, it's worth the wait. Warm Pastel de Nata tastes way better, and it's the kind of snack you want to enjoy at its best. Definitely a must-try! We also went for the Mille-feuille (Napoleon). Both the chocolate and vanilla versions were incredible. The layers of buttercream, meringue, and walnuts were perfectly balanced, making each bite rich but not overwhelming. Honestly, you should just order both flavors because they're that good. Another highlight was the walnut brownie. Unlike regular brownies, this one was less sweet, with a nice walnut kick that made it stand out. I really enjoyed it. On the other hand, the Salami au Chocolates didn't quite hit the mark for me--it was a bit too dry and tough to bite into. A crunchier texture might've improved it, in my opinion. From a dessert perspective, though, this place is already amazing. Everything we tried had its own unique flair, and I'll definitely be back for more pastries. Next time, I'll make it a point to try their grilled chicken and chorizo too--they've got a solid reputation for those dishes. Overall, highly recommended, whether you're here for dessert or a full meal. This spot is worth the visit, and I'm already looking forward to the next trip! ”

“ I was never overly interested in poutine (sorry, I can hear the gasps! lol), but when in Canada, right? OMG- their chicken & poutine was top notch. There was a small line around 8:00pm on a weekday, but nothing that was bad. The chicken was absolutely, hands down, AMAZING. The pastel de nata was the best follow up dessert. I'm not going to lie, I also ate the leftovers for breakfast, too :) Seating is not really great for young kids (mostly high tops with just a few tables), but we just ran it back to our hotel! Would highly recommend! ”

“ It's all about the chicken nothing else. I had the #11 salade florea a huge salad topped with plentiful and borderline obscene amounts of chorizo and chicken. The chicken was so juicy, tender and unbelievably flavorful that it outshined everything else. We also got a petite (trying to be healthy here) #8 poutine with chicken and chorizo and the #12 combo veronique with chicken, chorizo, fries, and salad. ”

They are just across the street from La banquise and near LaFontaine parc, so be aware there's always a line to enter, but ut worth it to have their good food.. Their chicken poutine is excellent and on my top5 poutine in Montréal. Service is quick and efficient and once you're in you don't wait long. Il fallait que j'essaie leur poutine car elle est très bien notée. Ils sont placés juste en face de la banquise et près du parc LaFontaine donc préparé vous à attendre un peu car il y a toujours une ligne. “ Ma Poule Mouillee is a place where dreams come true. After reading Maria's review back in 2020, I knew I had to visit this spot if I ever found myself in Montreal. Well, I am so glad I did! We visited for lunch and there was a line around the block. Now with a ton of amazing spots in Montreal, you may be thinking is it worth waiting in line? Yes, yes it most certainly is. Once you make your way inside they have a great assembly line going. You order, then make your way down to the register. By the time you make it to the register, your order is waiting for you. Here is the time to grab extra sauce, we did not and I was regretful. The Portuguese chicken was moist and delicious, their sauce is just so freaking good. We also ordered the petit poutine, and let me tell you nothing was petite about that thing. My friend and I could barely make a dent in it. But it was also so flavorful and delicious. We rounded things out with some orange Sumol (the best flavor) and a pastel de nata. They have a variety of bar seating/tables around the restaurant. Even with the long line we were able to find seats to eat without an issue. If I'm ever back in Montreal, I will never not go here. The best! ”

“ Located in the Plateau Mont-Royal neighborhood of town, MA Poulle Mouillée is a very popular, no-frills spot that's as famous for it's insanely long lines and wait times as it is for their succulent Portuguese style chicken. And while trying to get that aforementioned chicken can easily require standing in a line anywhere from 45 minutes to 90 minutes, most loyalists would say that it's absolutely worth the trouble and I would agree. Jean-Jacques Rousseau once said "Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet" and boy was he right. The chicken coming out of this place is absolutely insane. It's full of flavor, it's moist and it is one of the bites of food I've had in a very long time. Depending on what you order, the contents of your box might change a bit but I recommend you get the "Le Tremblay" option for $16CAD which features some chicken breast, a ton of fries and a side salad of greens with shaved carrots in a delicious vinaigrette. Don't share, just chow down in shame. It's greasy, it's tasty and full of flavor. If you're super hungry (you must be American - hi!) you can get other, larger options: ones with chorizo or even befana and while the first is scrumptious, the befana was nothing to write home about and ordering it isn't something I'd do again. Honestly the Tremblay is plenty of food. Service wasn't particularly friendly or fast - but man, it just doesn't matter. Just get in line and you'll be rewarded with a Portuguese feast which shines some spotlight on a cultural piece of Montreal that few other places can showcase as well. A+ ”
